District mandated end of course exams are no longer required in state law thanks to the passage of the testing bill this month. Most districts had been taking steps throughout the spring to reduce the their local testing. However, no district had released new policies on end of course exams since Governor Scott signed HB 7069 into law last week.

Charlotte was not alone. Miami-Dade superintendent Alberto Carvalho announced Thursday on social media that his district would eliminate over 300 local exams. “We have taken a responsible and logical approach to assessing students, in order to restore valuable teaching and learning time,” Carvalho said on Facebook.
Walton County did the same on Tuesday night announcing that they will now have semester exams that will count for 20% of this semester’s grade.
