The Student Alliance for Public Schools was founded by a group of students in Hillsborough County that attended one of the first Community Conversations. They wanted to elevate their own voice in public school policies and decisions.

Currently, Student Alliance programs are at select schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. These groups are working on student led solutions to raising the graduation rate. They presented their work to the Tampa Bay community on March 30th at a GradNation Community Summit. Click to view highlights of the event.

In addition, Student Alliance leaders met over the summer for a Leadership Conference. They collaborated with each other and with administrators. They developed plans for their work in the fall and left us all energized and excited!

In January, the Superintendent Leadership Conference was held in Hillsborough County. Students heard from Superintendent Eakins and other school leaders and will continue the work to raise graduation rates at their schools.

The students’ work culminated on March 2nd in Tampa at the third Grad Day for Tampa Bay, a GradNation Community Summit. Leaders from the Tampa Bay region met heard from these amazing students and joined the effort to raise graduation rates for all.
