The Student Alliance for Public Schools was founded by a group of students in Hillsborough County that attended one of the first Community Conversations. They wanted to elevate their own voice in public school policies and decisions.
Currently, Student Alliance programs are at select schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. These groups are working on student led solutions to raising the graduation rate. They presented their work to the Tampa Bay community in March at the GradNation Community Summit.
In Hillsborough County, students have been meeting all summer long to review their school data and plan programs for the fall. They collaborated with each other and with administrators. They had a lot of fun with team building exercises and left us all energized and excited! We can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year.
