Based on our popular Parent University conferences, the Alliance webinar series addresses a variety of topics providing valuable information to parents and caregivers to help their children succeed in school. The classes give families the tools they need to navigate the education system and advocate for their children and public schools.
Join the virtual conversation and tell us your thoughts on the role of public schools in your community.
Parent Teacher Connect
The Alliance is proud to partner with Pinellas County Public Schools and the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association to provide Parent Teacher Connect. This program fosters meaningful connections between a school and its families. These relationships allow educators and families to work together to support their common goals for students. Parent Teacher Connect serves as an important element of a comprehensive school turnaround strategy, creating a supportive school community that benefits students, families, and educators.
The Alliance has partnered with Pinellas County Public Schools, the United Way Suncoast and other community agencies to support Community Schools in order to build strong schools for students. We promote the National Education Association’s community schools model defined as “a set of partnerships that brings about a place of learning to help students overcome the barriers that cause them to lose focus and hope. What sets these schools apart is their emphasis on caring for and uplifting all of a child’s various needs (academic, health, nutritional, psychological, etc. ) The schools are able to do this through the collaboration of several partners and volunteers.” The model is based around the following six pillars of best practice:
- Strong and proven culturally relevant curriculum
- High-quality Teaching and Learning
- Inclusive Leadership
- Positive Behavior Practices
- Family and Community Partnerships
- Coordinated and Integrated Wraparound Supports
