Orange County to redraw voting districts

Every 10 years, voting districts are re-drawn based on the most recent census data. By law, school board redistricting can happen only in an odd-numbered year and the process is triggered by a population disparity of 10 percent or greater across district boundaries. Orange County Public Schools has convened a Reapportionment Advisory Committee made up of community members. This citizen-led group is charged with reviewing the decennial census data and then proposing and analyzing maps reflecting various possibilities for adjustments to the school board district boundaries that are compliant with the redistricting criteria.  The 2021 RAC will then recommend maps reflecting proposed school board district boundary adjustments to the School Board for their consideration and eventual adoption. This process will NOT affect school attendance zones.

The committee has completed their work. The school board voted to approve a new map that changes the school board member districts.
