GradNation 2019

Students from Hillsborough County Public Schools and Pinellas County Public Schools joined together to discuss ways to increase the graduation rate for themselves and their peers.

For the fifth year in a row, GradNation has been student led. From the amazing emcees to the breakout presenters and facilitators, community members were treated to a front row seat as students led the conversation about the goal of raising graduation rates across the region. Superintendent Jeff Eakins was joined by our executive director, Melissa Erickson, CEO of United Way Suncoast Suzanne McCormick, and State Attorney Andrew Warren.

The event was sponsored by United Way Suncoast with Lego Education. Participants used Lego bricks in interactive STEM stations where they learned how collaboration leads to success using coding, physics, and design. Breakout sessions including Graduation the Game and Learning Success Labs were hosted by students and allowed community members to hear the challenges and successes they had on their journey to help more students earn their diplomas.

We look forward to next years’ event when we will celebrate GradNation 2020!
