The Alliance for Public Schools is a non-profit founded by parents and community members who believed that public education must be a shared community value and priority. In order to accomplish this, Alliance programs, like Power Up for Success, engage families, educators and students in the education process by giving them information about how to best support the academic life of children. Additionally, the Alliance provides the community with accurate information about education policies and the effect these policies have on our public schools and the students who attend them.

Welcome to Career and Technical Education (CTE). The mission of Career and Technical Education is to provide students with technical skills, integrated activities, knowledge and attitude necessary for successful performance in a globally competitive workplace.

The Early Childhood Learning Center’s mission is to ignite the love of learning in all children to reach their highest potential as responsible, productive citizens. Families that have children entering Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK) may contact the Early Childhood Learning Center for the necessary information to enroll their child at one of Osceola’s district schools. Some sites offer DUAL Language VPK. Children that turn four years of age by September 1st and reside in Florida, are eligible to participate in Florida’s FREE VPK program regardless of income. The School District’s Environmental Center site is 19-acres of swampland along South Poinciana Blvd. Students from the School District of Osceola County visit the swamp site throughout the year to learn about the local ecosystem by engaging in STEM activities, visiting the centers Natural History Museum, and walking on the boardwalk observing the local flora and fauna. The School District of Osceola County’s Extended Learning Program impacts children’s lives cognitively, socially, culturally, emotionally, and physically in a safe and engaging environment before and after school.

The Extended Learning Program provides a program for elementary age children and a separate program for middle school age children. Elementary students may participate before and/or after school. Middle school age students participate in a Before the Bell morning program.

All services provided by the Extended Learning Program take place on the school campus. The Extended Learning Program after school activities include snack, recess/outdoor activities, character education, homework, and games.

Registration for the Extended Learning and Before the Bell programs take place annually and families must register every year. Registration takes place during the summer and each school is given a registration window. If during the registration window a site reaches capacity parents may add their child to the waitlist. The waitlist is good for one school year.

Osceola Virtual School’s mission is to provide enriching educational online choice options to enhance students’ potential in the future. It is the School District’s internet-based learning environment where instruction takes place online, and is facilitated by certified teachers from Osceola County. Eligible students in grades K-12 who wish to take courses as a full, part-time or home education student can learn where they want. Full-time students may apply directly through OVS during the open enrollment window. Visit our admissions page for additional information on this process. Part-time students may apply anytime throughout the school year and may take up to 3 classes at once. Please contact your primary school’s counselor for assistance with this process.

Home Education families may contact the Home Education Department at (407) 870-4847 to discuss your letter of intent and to choose Osceola Virtual School as part of your student’s curriculum. Home Education students may take up to 4 classes at once. The OVS K-12 Instructional Program is free to students who reside in Osceola County. Students must meet all district and state eligibility requirements to enroll and take courses. Full and Part-time students take courses online through the secondary Osceola Virtual School, which is a FLVS franchise. The Special Programs Department oversees the District’s federally funded grants that support children who are economically disadvantaged, migrant, neglected & delinquent, and homeless. Special Programs’ Parent Involvement Team engages parents as partners in their child’s education through programs such as Born to Succeed, Learn2Read, Mommy & Me, and the READ BUS. All of these programs engage parents and children in fun activities that help promote early literacy. Special Programs’ Families in Transition Team (FIT) assist in removing barriers to education by supporting families that are experiencing homelessness enroll their children in school. They also provide access to the SMART Bus which provides students homework assistance, and teaches healthy habits to promote a wholesome lifestyle. In order to be successful in the pathway you choose, it is important to understand requirements for graduation, and that planning starts long before your Senior Year!  Join this session to learn more about the supported pathways the School District of Osceola County offers for Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day!  Are you interested in Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment, JROTC, and Career and Technical Education Pathways? Do you need information on scholarships and financial aid? We want to provide information that can lead you to a successful career.

Topics will also include the importance of getting to know your School Counselor, College and Career Counselor, and Transition Coach at your high school and how they help you navigate the road to graduation. You will leave with a clear understanding of your diploma designations and options, the Seal of Biliteracy, and other choices you have to making your way across the graduation stage. We will share information about our Xello platform and SDOC4E (Enroll, Employ, Enlist, Explore) and how you can use these tools to connect you to college, career and life readiness. This workshop will provide parents with warning signs of youth who are struggling with mental health issues, and will provide parents with crisis resources.

Now that the school district has launched a one-to-one device plan, what does this mean for student’s connecting from home and at school. During this session attendees will learn how to access Focus to see the student’s grade status, how to access digital resources via Classlink, and how students will engage through the use of Apple Schoolwork, Microsoft TEAMS and/or Canvas.

This session will provide parents with strategies for organizing their child’s IEP paperwork and related school information.

This course will entail the use of different learning strategies that can be utilized at home in order to help your student study at home.  Some of the concepts will include organizational skills and the use of different technology tools that your student has at their fingertips.

This workshop will provide parents information on the stackable credentials that begin students on a career path starting in elementary and continuing throughout their K-12 experience.  These credentials lead to articulations that earn students college credits towards an Associate’s Degree, preparing the student for college and career.  Stackable credentials lead to high wage, high demand careers!  Through this workshop, parents and students will understand how CTE will prepare students to enroll, enlist, employ, and explore!
